Actor Eddie Hassell, 30, who appeared in 'The Kids Are All Right,' shot and killed in Texas

Actor Eddie Hassell, who appeared in the 2010 Oscar-nominated film “The Kids Are All Right” and the NBC TV show “Surface,” was shot and killed Sunday in Texas. He was 30.

Grand Prairie police officers responded to a report of the shooting around 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning, according to Public Information Officer Chelsea Kretz. They found Hassell suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and transported him to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

Kretz said the motive is under investigation, but detectives confirm a car was taken from the scene and later recovered.

Hassell played Clay in “Kids,” which starred Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo, and Phil in the sci-fi series “Surface,” alongside Lake Bell and Leighton Meester.

According to IMDb, Hassell’s most recent role was as a waiter in the 2017 film “Oh Lucy!”
